This time of the year is so much fun! As a coach, I also hear a lot of guilt or anxiety around these times about the choices and behaviours made (which is totally normal too!). I think it’s important to be able to enjoy this time of the year while implementing quick and easy ways to stay active.
Here are a few tips for the Holidays:
Do something every day to move
Trying to stick to a strict training schedule can be difficult for some through the busyness of the holidays. Instead of going to the gym 5x/week, focus on doing at least one thing every day to get you moving. Keep it short and sweet.
Get your family and friends involved
Go for a family hike if you’re on vacation
Gather everyone to go for a quick walk around the neighborhood after dinner
Have a Pushup or Squat Competition with your friends and family
Practice gratitude. It’s the season of thankfulness - spend five minutes each morning to practice some gratitude.
Finally, give yourself some grace! While the holidays are not an excuse to go backwards on your healthy habits, it is OK to give yourself a break from time to time. It is a time to sit back, relax and focus on friends and family.
